Max Sänger, born in 1987, is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Hamburg, Germany. He holds a Master’s degree at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, where he studied documentary film with Prof. Pepe Danquart. His films are sensitive observations that do not simply make the lives of their protagonists visible, but trace their rhythm, their physicality and their specific view of the world. They are films that do not impose any logic of narration and representation on their main characters, but conversely, make the encounter itself the starting point of a cinematic form, a documentary gaze. Alongside these intimate portraits of people, there is a great curiosity and fascination for non-human life worlds, which accompanies Max in all his works.
With friends and colleagues he co-founded the Gorgofilm collective.
